International ‘media in the neighbourhood’ event Media4ME 2010
On Thursday 18 and Friday 19 November 2010 Mira Media is organizing the 3rd international ‘media in the neighborhood’ event Media4ME 2010.
Media4ME 2010 will be the central point for exchanging expertise, networking and starting new partnerships in the domain of media in the neighbourhood.
A few of the topics that will be addressed in the 2-day event Media4me 2010:
- How to unite different parties in the neighbourhood in joining forces and exchanging expertise in the domain of new media use.
- Hands on journalism: inhabitants talk about their own neighbourhood.
- How can the use of new media and the involvement of the inhabitants enhance the image of the neighborhood amid the rest of the city.
- What is the role of art and culture in the process of uniting the neighbourhood.
- Internship projects ‘ICT and media in the neighborhood’ for high school and college?
- How can youth and media projects be used to enhance the cohesion in the neighbourhood?
- What international practices are in place and how can I join an international project?
These topics are going to be discussed in theme- and goal orientated workshops that are going to take place in different locations in the Schilderswijk neighbourhood in The Hague. A live video link between the different workshops is going to be established through the ‘Digital Wallpaper’ of the municipality of The Hague.
There will be different workshops for: neighborhood managers, policy makers, project providers, librarians, media coaches, youth media initiatives, neighbourhood TV initiatives, children’s press offices, multicultural organizations and educational institutes.
The Media4ME 2010 is going to be the place for workshops and presentations of organizations and institutes that want to contribute on the effective use of media in the neighbourhood.
The aim of the conference is to focus on the further structuring and implementation of neighbourhood media and media literacy projects in The Netherlands and abroad as to improve the social cohesion, intercultural dialog and active citizenship in the neighbourhoods.
Additional information on the programme and the content of the workshops will soon be available on this website.
