Media play an increasingly important role in education as a learning tool for information gathering and as educational production tool. Teaching staff and other educational professionals do not always have the necessary tools to guide students and adult learners. Therefore there is a growing need for Media Coaches, media education assistants and Media guidance in schools and social cultural institutions.

The project Mediacoaches aims to develop and introduce three new training programs for media coaches, media educators and media education assistants.

• Media coaches will be active in support of teachers in executing multi media project with students in and outside the school programmes.
• Media educators are teachers specialized in teaching media awareness to students in VET.
• Media education assistants are students who took part in media education projects and who can act as peers and assistants in future media education projects.

The project Mediacoaches aims to include the new training programmes in the curricula of Teacher training Colleges, Media Education Resource Centres and VET's.

Partners in the project Mediacoaches are: Mira Media; Reklamerakkers;Jugend Film Club; Stockholm Cityschool of Arts and Media Animation.
